Silver Oak (Alexander Valley) 2002

A respectable Cabernet, but not up to Silver Oak's usual high standards. Clean cherry, cedar, and olive flavors. Well-integrated oak suggests a slight toastiness and perhaps some dill. Yet, the wine is very light bodied for California Cabernet, especially on the finish, which is almost watery in its lack of intensity. Not a wine for your long-term cellar; drink up over the next 3-5 years.

I have found that to be typical of the Silver Oak, Alexander Valley Cab.

The Napa Valley Cab tends to be more full bodied and richer with more dark fruit flavors.

Of course it’s a lot more expensive also.
