Pine Ridge Chenin Blanc-Viognier (Clarksburg) 2004

This unusual white blend (80% Chenin Blanc and 20% Viognier) from a little-known AVA will not remind anyone of either Vouvray Sec or Condrieu, but it is a very enjoyable wine that makes an agreeable companion for a wide range of light meals. The pleasant bouquet is dominated by pear and melon, with a dash of orange blossom. The palate follows, adding a touch of mango and honey. The alcohol level is just low enough (12.5%) to make this an ideal wine to enjoy with a light lunch. Grade: B+
