A classic example of the big, oaky, and buttery style. Apples, vanilla, honey, almonds, and nutmeg. Grade: B+
Zendo: LOL. But it’s my blog!
I like the Chardonnay reviews - they help me steer clear of the oaky ones. I have the problem that big oaky Chardonnays give me heartburn - even 1/2 a glass will do it. So, I tend to look for French style Chardonnays (or drink Sauvignon Blancs, Rieslings, or blends like Conumdrum).
I tasted the 2001 Frank Family chardonnay on a trip to Napa in 2004. It is the wine that turned me into a wine drinker. We brought home a case of it at $24/bottle. I guess I like the oaky chardonnays but being a novice I described it as soft, warm, buttery. I’m from Phoenix and it isn’t sold in stores here so I’m going to have to resort to ordering some of the 2005 on line and hope that a B+ to you is an A+++ to me!

More on the Big Reds please.... I don’t care for white wine generally.
